Flooring Installation & Repair

A floor is only as good as what's under it. New planks laid over a subfloor that dips, squeaks or has a soft spot by the dishwasher will show every flaw within a year. That's why our flooring work starts on our knees with the old floor up, checking for loose sheathing, high seams and old water damage.

Shane fixes what he finds before any new material goes down. That might mean screwing down a subfloor that has squeaked since the house was built, sanding a high seam flat, or cutting out a section of plywood that soaked up water from a leaking toilet. It isn't glamorous, but it's the difference between a floor that looks good and one that stays good.

We install luxury vinyl plank, laminate, engineered and solid hardwood, and tile, and we repair floors damaged by water, pets or plain wear. We also take care of the baseboard, transitions and thresholds that make a room look finished. You can choose the material yourself, or Shane will help you pick one that fits the room and the way your household lives.

Shane is the most professional contractor I have ever interacted with for a job. From the first time calling him to the time he left my property he was 100% sincere with everything he did. We requested to put on a new roof on a shed and fix a rotted floor. He recommended putting some extra TLC into the shed including siding and some other work. We didn't think it was possible due to the age of the shed. When he hit some roadblocks with extra issues dealing with the project, he kept his cool. He even worked in a non-shaded area, with a heat index over 110 degrees with no breaks. His employee had the same mentality and I could see his dedication as well. He was younger in age, but Shane educated him along the way. I could tell he was helping to shape the next generation of contractors. Shane was trying to put the love of the work back into the job rather than just completing the work. He told us the new problems we didn't know about and quickly addressed them. He didn't get upset by me asking questions and even gave detailed answers to my questions. If you want a person who shows the ability and love of his work, hire this company. I felt as if I hired a family member even though we never met before since he truly took ownership of his work. His prices are beyond reasonable and he doesn't charge for an extra screw or a random material other contractors charge customers. He is truly the old fashion worker your grandparents tell you about from back in the day. When I discussed future jobs with him he gladly said he would handle it. No job is too big or small for Shane. If someone would ask if I would hire him back, I would say 100%. He even warranties his work for years and you can't beat it.

FAQ

Flooring Installation & Repair:
common questions

Still wondering about something? Call or text Shane at (636) 306-0393.

Can you install new flooring over my old floor?

Sometimes. Certain floating floors can go over sound, flat vinyl or tile, but that raises the floor height, which affects doors, trim and transitions into other rooms. Carpet always comes up. In most cases we recommend removing the old floor so Shane can inspect and repair the subfloor before anything new goes down over it.

What flooring works best in a basement?

Basements sit on concrete and see more humidity, especially during wet Missouri springs. Luxury vinyl plank and tile handle that well because moisture won't ruin them. Solid hardwood is a poor fit below grade. Shane will check the slab for moisture and flatness before recommending a product, because both affect how any floor performs down there.

Can you match a repair to my existing floor?

We try to. With hardwood, matching species and board width is often possible, though stain color takes some testing to blend. Vinyl plank and laminate get discontinued, so a leftover box from the original install is a big help. If a true match isn't available, Shane will suggest ending the new floor at a natural break, like a doorway.

Does new hardwood need time to acclimate?

Usually, yes. Wood takes on and gives up moisture with the air, and St. Charles County swings from humid summers to dry, heated winters. Letting the flooring adjust inside your house before installation helps prevent gaps and cupping later. Shane will check how long your product needs, based on the manufacturer's guidance and your home's conditions.
