Bathroom Remodeling · O'Fallon & St. Charles County
Bathrooms done right behind the tile.
The finish is what you see. The waterproofing, subfloor and venting underneath are what make a bathroom last, and we build both with the same care.
Bathroom Remodeling
A bathroom takes more water abuse than any room in the house, and it hides its problems well. When we open up older showers in St. Charles County homes, we often find the same things: tile set over plain drywall, a pan that has leaked for years, and a subfloor gone soft around the toilet. None of it shows until it's a big job.
That's why Shane starts every bathroom by finding out what's really there. If the floor under the old tub is rotted, he shows you, explains what it means, and fixes it before any new tile goes down. You don't get a pretty shower built on top of a problem that will be back in a few years.
From there we handle the full remodel: demo, framing, waterproofing, tile, vanity, toilet, faucets, fan and lighting. Plumbing or electrical work that requires a licensed trade or a permit is handled properly. The goal is a bathroom that looks the way you pictured it on day one and still stays dry long after we've packed up and gone.

What's included
Every part of the job, handled.
- 01
Showers and tub conversions
Walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions and new tub surrounds, built with a proper waterproof membrane behind the tile instead of drywall and caulk.
- 02
Tile floors and walls
Floor and wall tile set flat and level, with clean cuts around fixtures and grout lines that carry straight from one wall to the next.
- 03
Vanities and tops
New vanities, tops, sinks and mirrors sized to the room, with storage that makes sense for the number of people sharing the bathroom.
- 04
Toilets, faucets and valves
New toilets, faucets, shower valves and trim installed and tested, plus repairs on fixtures that drip, run or leak at the base.
- 05
Subfloor and framing repair
Rotted subfloor around toilets and tubs cut out and replaced, and framing corrected so the new floor stays flat, solid and quiet underfoot.
- 06
Ventilation and lighting
Exhaust fans ducted outside rather than into the attic, plus vanity and shower lighting, so humid summer air and shower steam leave the room.
Shane from A to Z Improvements did an amazing job on my project. You can really tell he takes pride in his work. His attention to detail stood out from start to finish. Everything was done carefully and came out exactly how I wanted it. On top of that, his prices were super reasonable, especially for the quality of work he delivered. He's also quick to respond and very easy to talk to, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. And just like his motto says, "from roof to basement and everything in between," he really can handle it all. I'll definitely be having him back for more work in the future. Highly recommend!

common questions
Still wondering about something? Call or text Shane at (636) 306-0393.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Most bathroom remodels take a few weeks, depending on scope. A straightforward tub-to-shower conversion moves faster than a full gut with a layout change. Waterproofing, thinset and grout need curing time between steps, and we don't rush them. Shane will give you a realistic schedule once he has seen the room and what's under the floor.
We only have one bathroom. Can we still remodel it?
Yes, and we plan around it. We sequence the work so the toilet is out of service for as little time as possible, and we tell you ahead of time which days the shower won't be usable. Some families shower at the gym or with relatives for those stretches. Either way, you'll know what's coming before it happens.
What goes behind the tile in your showers?
A waterproof membrane or waterproof backer system over the walls and the shower pan, not just cement board and grout. Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own, which is why so many older showers rot from the inside. Shane can walk you through the options for your shower and why the one he recommends fits your layout.
Can I pick my own tile and fixtures?
Absolutely. Many homeowners shop for their own tile, vanity and faucets, and we're glad to install them. Send us what you're considering before you order, and we'll make sure it works with the space and the plumbing. If you'd rather have guidance, Shane will point you toward products that hold up well and fit your budget.
